Local runner and all-around humanitarian and environmental advocate Jason Wertz will run in April’s Boston Marathon in honor of Bright Happy Power! Feel free to track bib 28523 on the day of the race. Jason is starting in wave 4 at 11:25 am on the day of the Marathon! Feel free to make donations by using the link to the right to cheer Jason on during his race!
Phoebe Howe, who was the youngest cyclist in Bright Happy Power’s 100k bike ride two years in a row, will also be running the Boston Marathon to raise funds and awareness for us this year. Follow Phoebe’s bib number 28550; she is also starting wave 4 at 11:25 am on the day of the Marathon. If you want to support her, Phoebe has set up a fundraising page at the BAA site, or you can make a donation to the right.
In past years our champions have included other runners as well as wheelchair athlete Dr. William Tan from Singapore, who flew in every year from 2002-2008, and completed the event 7 times in honor of Jessie Doktor in support of Children’s Hospital Boston. He gave Marathon medals to Jessie and to her older sister Sarah Doktor.
Sadly, last year Bright Happy Power was called on to provide information and resources for bereavement and counseling for children and teens affected by the bombing at the 2013 Boston Marathon. We pray for an uplifting event this season, and continue to “hold in the light” those friends and families with members lost or wounded in last year’s event.
